If you are interested and would like to know more about the Yūgen project, visit the post on my blog ( https://www.artstation.com/blogs/cesarsakon/v3pKO/y-gen-my-life-in-japan ) where I explain the inspirations and motivations, as well as check out the other parts of the project in my portfolio.
Shrines can be found in every corner of Japan. They can be small or large, but always integrated into the landscape. I used many references to create this shrine, but the main one was Tatsumi Dai-myojin in Kyoto. As a reference for modeling the temple, I used images of a shrine near where I live called Sasuka Jinja.
I did this project entirely without using any external assets like Quixel Bridge and Megascans. The PBR materials were created 100% procedurally in Substance 3D Designer. Some foliages were created using photos I took of leaves and processed the outputs in Substance 3D Designer. All models were made in Blender, and the environment was assembled and rendered in Unreal Engine 5.3.
I hope you enjoy it and Feel free to comment.
